VIOLIN INSTRUCTOR, PART TIME

The Performing Arts Center of MetroWest (PAC) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Violin Instructor to join our faculty beginning August 2026.   PAC is a nonprofit community performing arts school dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible music education in a welcoming and supportive environment. We are looking for an instructor who is passionate about teaching, enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities, and is committed to helping each student achieve their musical goals.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Violin Instructor will provide engaging, student-centered violin instruction that supports each student's musical growth while advancing the Performing Arts Center of MetroWest's mission to make high-quality performing arts education accessible to the community.

PAC seeks a collaborative, dependable, and enthusiastic educator who enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellence in teaching, communicates effectively with students and families, and contributes to a positive, supportive faculty community dedicated to enriching lives through the performing arts.

POSITION DETAILS

Contract Term: This is a one-year independent contractor appointment beginning in August 2026 and extending through August 2027. Renewal opportunities may be available annually based on the continued needs of the program, successful teaching experience, and mutual interest in continuing the instructor’s relationship with the Performing Arts Center of MetroWest. 

Compensation: Starting at $35 per hour, with compensation commensurate with experience, qualifications, and teaching background.

Teaching Schedule: Lessons are offered Monday through Friday between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Instructors are not required to teach every day and may establish a regular teaching schedule based on their availability and student enrollment.

Academic Year: PAC operates on a two-semester academic calendar, with the Fall Semester beginning in late August and the Spring Semester concluding in late June. Instructors are encouraged to maintain a consistent teaching schedule throughout the academic year.

Summer Opportunities: Instructors who wish to continue teaching during the summer may have the opportunity to work with students through PAC's summer lesson program, based on instructor availability and student enrollment.

Professional Environment: Instructors become part of a collaborative faculty dedicated to providing exceptional music education while supporting PAC's mission of fostering artistic growth and making the performing arts accessible to the MetroWest community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Violin Instructor will provide engaging, high-quality private violin instruction that supports each student's musical development and individual goals. Responsibilities include:

Teach weekly private violin lessons to students of varying ages, experience levels, and abilities.

Develop individualized lesson plans that align with each student's goals, interests, and level of development.

Provide instruction that builds strong technical foundations, musical understanding, confidence, and artistic expression.

Encourage students to develop a lifelong appreciation for music and a commitment to continued growth.

Prepare students for recitals, performances, and other PAC-sponsored opportunities as appropriate.

Maintain regular and professional communication with students, families, and PAC staff.

Support a positive, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment that reflects PAC's commitment to accessible and exceptional arts education.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished violinist and dedicated educator who is passionate about helping students succeed. Qualifications include:

Strong violin performance skills and a solid understanding of violin technique and musicianship.

Previous experience teaching private violin lessons preferred.

Degree in Music, Music Education, or equivalent professional performance and teaching experience.

Ability to effectively teach students across a range of ages, abilities, and learning styles.

Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Dependable, professional, and committed to providing a high-quality educational experience for every student.

Ability to successfully complete a background check.
