Japanese Language Program Reader

The Department of East Asian Studies seeks a part-time Japanese Language Reader for Fall 2026, Winter 2027, and Spring 2027.

Responsibilities (this list may change depending on department needs):

• Social media support: creating posts for the social media accounts of the Japanese program at UCI.
• Grading: Assist with grading assignments, quizzes, and exams.
• Administrative Tasks: Prepare instructional materials, maintain course records, and track attendance and grades.
• Classroom Support: Manage classroom materials and technology.

Requirements:

• Work-Study Funding: Submit a copy of your accepted work-study award letter for 2026-27 with your application.
• Language Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced Japanese skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening).
• Skills: Ability to type in Japanese and English, basic computer skills. Familiarity with social media language is highly desirable.

Work Hours: 

• Flexible, typically 4-6 hours per week based on class schedules and work-study funding.
