Associate Editor

Associate Editor

Wealth Strategies Journal | Remote | 5-10 hours/week | Unpaid Internship

The Wealth Strategies Journal is an online publication for estate and financial planning professionals, including trust and estate attorneys, CPAs, financial planners, and trust officers.

We’re looking for an Associate Editor to recruit practicing attorneys and other professionals to contribute articles to the Journal.

This is an outreach and relationship-management role, not a writing or editing role. You’ll identify potential contributors, contact them by email or phone, follow up, and coordinate accepted articles through publication.

What you’ll do

  • Identify attorneys and other practitioners worth approaching
  • Conduct professional outreach by email and occasionally by phone
  • Follow up with prospective contributors
  • Coordinate deadlines, formatting, author questions, and publication
  • Maintain an organized pipeline of prospective and confirmed authors
  • Help build a repeatable outreach system and, as the program grows, potentially manage additional associate editors

Who we’re looking for

  • The ability to be comfortable approaching people you don’t know and following through when they don’t respond.
  • Being proactive, organized, professional, and persistent without being pushy.
  • Previous experience doing customer-facing work, campus leadership, sales, fundraising, recruiting, cold calling, or any experience that requires you to initiate conversations is preferred.
  • Interest in law, tax, estate planning, or wealth management is helpful but not required.

What you’ll get

  • Direct professional relationships with practicing attorneys and advisors
  • A masthead title with the Journal
  • Experience in professional outreach, relationship management, and pipeline development
  • The opportunity to take ownership of and expand this part of the publication
  • Potential opportunities to manage additional editors and help develop new projects, including a podcast
  • A substantive professional reference based on your work

Time commitment

Approximately 5-10 hours per week, remote and largely on your own schedule. Minimum commitment of one semester; staying longer is encouraged.

Compensation

This is an unpaid internship. The primary benefits are professional access, experience, responsibility, and the opportunity to build relationships with practitioners in the field.

To apply

Apply through Handshake with your résumé, transcript, and cover letter. Please include your GPA. In your cover letter, briefly explain why the position interests you and what experience makes you a strong fit.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Selected applicants will be contacted for a short phone or Zoom conversation.
