Position Overview

We are seeking a versatile, dynamic, and dedicated educator to join our team as a K4–12 Grade Music Teacher. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work with a broad range of students and be prepared to deliver engaging instruction in elementary general music as well as direct middle and high school bands.

This individual will play a vital role in continuing a growing tradition of excellence in the Mercer School music program while fostering strong family and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations

Comprehensive Music Instruction: Teach elementary general music and direct middle school and high school band ensembles. Familiarity with percussion and choral pedagogy is highly desirable.

Student Ownership & High Standards: Encourage student ownership of musical traditions and cultivate high standards of artistic quality in the classroom and performances.

Community & Family Engagement: Actively build connections with families and the local community to showcase student achievements and elevate the music program.

Effective Program Administration: Manage music-related administrative duties efficiently through clear communication, strong organization, and close collaboration with district staff.

Professional Excellence: Demonstrate flexibility, initiative, dependability, and strong classroom and time management skills.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education or related field.

Licensure: Valid Wisconsin Teaching License in Music Education (K–12) or eligible for appropriate WI licensure.

Skills: Strong instructional, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to diverse age groups and skill levels.

Experience: Open to both dynamic initial educators and seasoned teachers looking for a rewarding community.
