Human Resources Generalist

Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Employee Relations Supervisor
Location: Ventura County
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Position Summary

Are you passionate about helping people and interested in launching your career in Human Resources? We are seeking an organized, customer-service-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join our team. This position provides hands-on experience across multiple HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations support, compliance, training coordination, and HR administration.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn, comfortable working with diverse teams, and committed to maintaining confidentiality while providing excellent support to employees and leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employee Relations Support

  • Serve as a resource for employees with basic HR questions.
  • Assist with documentation and administrative tasks related to employee relations matters.
  • Support investigations, disciplinary processes, and performance management activities under HR leadership guidance.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information.

Recruitment & Hiring Support

  • Assist with job postings, applicant tracking, and candidate communications.
  • Coordinate interviews and scheduling with hiring managers.
  • Support pre-employment processes, including background checks, reference checks, and document collection.
  • Participate in recruitment events and outreach activities as needed.

Onboarding & Employee Experience

  • Assist with new hire onboarding and orientation activities.
  • Prepare onboarding materials and ensure new hire documentation is completed.
  • Coordinate facility tours and introductions for new employees.
  • Support efforts to create a positive and welcoming employee experience.

Training & Compliance

  • Coordinate training schedules and attendance records.
  • Assist with compliance tracking and required employee training.
  • Support HR initiatives related to workplace safety, employment law compliance, and policy education.
  • Help organize department meetings, trainings, and special events.

Other Duties

  • Support special projects and department initiatives.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, or a related field; or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, or payroll systems.
  • Basic understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
