Intramural Sports Lead

Position Type: Federal Work Study And Non Work Study

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Intramural Sports Lead is responsible for facilitating and the supervision of IM sporting events and managing a safe playing atmosphere for IM participants. Intramural sports may include volleyball, soccer, basketball, softball, football, and other sports. The Intramural Sports Lead will work under the Assistant Director of University Recreation on the program planning, development, and leading. This position provides a great opportunity to develop practical leadership skills and to develop your sports management experience.

  • Set up and break down the facility for the intramural events.
  • Pick up roster sheet and scoring sheets for events.
  • Sign in intramural players/teams and verify their eligibility.
  • Assign the intramural officials to their partners and field/court assignments.
  • Be a resource and service person for participants during contests.
  • Oversee IM events and diffuse problems involving spectators, coaches, or players.
  • Provide training and support to the intramural URec staff.
  • Aid participants with injuries and report all injuries or problems written.
  • Contact public safety and pro staff in emergency situations.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in fitness or general knowledge of fitness and exercise principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage participants and promote programs effectively.
  • Proven ability to resolve conflicts professionally and efficiently.
  • A genuine interest in fostering an inclusive and welcoming fitness environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Availability to work afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.
