Service Manager
SkipperBud's Marina Del Isle is seeking a full-time Service Manager responsible for managing the service department and service team. Responsibilities include working with the customer (either internal or external) to obtain the information required to perform the work on the boat, and following through to make sure the work is completed correctly the first time and in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees daily service department operations, including scheduling and assigning work for service advisors, technicians, and yard personnel
- Generates and manages service work orders using the Service Scheduler and other dealership management tools
- Recruits, trains, coaches, mentors, and evaluates service department team members
- Utilizes manufacturer flat-rate guides and Standard Service Operations (SSOs) to establish labor times and monitor timely completion of repairs
- Ensures customer complaints, diagnoses, and completed repairs are accurately documented on service work orders
- Coordinates warranty approvals with manufacturers and extended warranty providers while maintaining all required documentation for reimbursement
- Greets customers, assesses service needs, and communicates repair requirements clearly to the service team
- Promotes additional maintenance services, repairs, parts, and accessories that enhance the customer experience
- Prepares repair estimates and itemized work orders detailing labor and parts costs
- Obtains customer authorization for diagnostic work and repair estimates and secures payment before releasing completed boats
- Coordinates technical and product training opportunities for the service team while providing technical guidance as needed
- Inspects completed repairs to ensure quality workmanship before customer delivery
- Develops and implements safe, efficient, and effective service department procedures
- Monitors technician productivity, maintains production reports, and verifies performance-based compensation for payroll
- Manages departmental budgets, controls expenses, and drives financial performance and profitability
- Promotes and actively supports the MarineMax Safety Program to maintain a safe workplace for employees and customers
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Qualifications / Requirements
- Strong leadership, team management, and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with computer systems and the ability to learn dealership management and service scheduling software
