Assistant Early Childhood Guide

About Our Community

At Pearlily Montessori, we create a nurturing and authentic Montessori environment based on a Catholic philosophy of education. We believe every child is a unique creation of God. Our goal is to educate the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. The afternoon session is a vital part of the child's day, focusing on community building, social-emotional growth, and peaceful transitions. We're looking for a dedicated, calm, and collaborative professional to support our Primary community (ages 3–6) from 12:30-5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

Position Overview

The Assistant Guide is key to keeping the classroom safe and serene. You'll work closely with the Lead Guide, helping children with lunch cleanup, rest time, outdoor exploration, and the afternoon work cycle. This role is perfect for students, career-changers, or educators wanting meaningful, part-time hours in a supportive, growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Independence: Guide children in developing self-help and practical life skills during lunch, transitions, and toilet learning. Remember, "never do for a child what they can do for themselves."
  • Protect the Prepared Environment: Keep the classroom materials orderly, clean, and beautiful, ensuring everything is accessible to the children.
  • Supervise Outdoor Exploration: Monitor outdoor play for safety while allowing natural social development, conflict resolution, and discovery.
  • Model Grace and Courtesy: Use gentle, positive language and respectful communication to support a peaceful classroom atmosphere.
  • Active Observation: Develop the skill of objective observation to anticipate classroom needs and support individual children without disrupting harmony.

What We Are Looking For (Qualifications)

  • Demeanor: A naturally calm, patient, and flexible attitude with a deep respect for young children.
  • Reliability: Exceptional punctuality and dependability, as consistent routines are crucial for this age group.
  • Experience: Prior experience with children aged 3–6 is preferred, but a genuine desire to learn is highly valued.
  • Philosophy: A strong interest in learning about Montessori philosophy and child-led development.
  • Compliance: Ability to pass comprehensive federal/state background checks and meet Ohio childcare licensing medical requirements.

Professional Growth & Benefits

  • Career Pathways: Enjoy a clear pathway for continuous professional development and career advancement within our growing school.
  • Montessori Training Scholarships: High-performing team members may qualify for full or partial tuition scholarships toward an authentic Montessori Teaching Credential through our partnering American Montessori Society (AMS) teacher education program.
  • Mentorship: Get direct guidance and mentorship from certified, experienced Montessori educators.
