Overview

We are an early-stage app startup with an active user base, looking for a Founding / Lead Engineer to help refine our core MVP and grow our product into new markets. In this pre-funded, equity-based role, you’ll work directly with our React Native (TypeScript), Google Firebase, and AI prompt engineering stack to optimize performance and explore new innovations. This opportunity is tailored for a developer or student (current or recent grad) at USCB/TCL who wants true product ownership and an equity stake. As we raise our initial capital, this position is designed to transition directly into a paid Lead Developer or CTO role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Codebase Refactoring & Polish: Clean up, standardize, and optimize existing React Native (TypeScript) code to ensure reliability as user traffic grows into new markets.
  • Backend Architecture: Maintain and scale Google Firebase services, Firestore databases, hosted Cloud Functions, and hosting setups.
  • AI & Prompt Engineering: Experiment with, design, and optimize prompts and LLM features integrated into the app.

Qualifications & Stack

  • Technical Experience: Proficiency with React Native, TypeScript, and Google Firebase.
  • AI Curiosity: Background or strong interest in prompt engineering and AI feature integration.
  • Local Connection: Current student, recent graduate, or alumni of USCB, TCL, or the broader Lowcountry/Beaufort tech community.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Driven by product ownership, strategic architecture decisions, and building early-stage software.
