Elementary Classroom Teacher – 1st and 2nd Grade
iLearn Schools is seeking dedicated and passionate teachers for the 1st and 2nd grade classrooms for the upcoming school year.
Position Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the School Director, the teacher will facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress; addressing the specific educational needs of individual students; creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and administer elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- - Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
- - Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that challenge students and best utilize available instructional time.
- - Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs.
- - Maintain accurate records for grading, reporting, achievement, and attendance.
- - Maintain open communication with parents via Class Dojo, phone calls, emails, and parent-teacher conferences.
- - Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and district policies.
- - Coordinate with other professional staff, especially within grade level, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- - Provide struggling students with additional after-school support within contracted times.
Qualifications:
- New York State Certification, Elementary School Teacher (1st and 2nd grade)
- - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education (Master's degree in a related area preferred).
- - Successful prior teaching experience at the appropriate grade levels is a plus.
Prior to employment, candidates must complete a criminal history background check, provide evidence of adequate health to fulfill job functions, and pass the state-required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test.
