About Sponsor a Purpose
Sponsor a Purpose is a fundraising and donor management platform built to help nonprofit organizations grow.
Our platform gives nonprofits the tools to manage donors, collect donations, automate communication, organize fundraising activity, and build stronger relationships with their supporters.
We also work directly with nonprofit clients to strengthen their websites, digital marketing, fundraising campaigns, and overall organizational capacity.
The Role
We are looking for a Market Research and Content Intern who can help maintain the accuracy and credibility of the Sponsor a Purpose content library while supporting our ongoing content engine.
This is a hands-on role that combines competitive research, fact-checking, content writing, and SEO support. You will help keep our nonprofit software comparison hub current and defensible while also contributing to the weekly content that drives awareness and inbound interest.
This is not a passive internship. You will work on live content assets, research real competitors, support published campaigns, and see how your work affects credibility, search visibility, and inbound leads.
Responsibilities
Competitive Research and Fact-Checking
- Audit and update our nonprofit software comparison hub as competitors change pricing, features, and positioning
- Source citations and data to support every claim we publish
- Monitor competitor platforms including Bloomerang, Givebutter, Donorbox, and others for updates
- Flag outdated or unsupported claims and recommend corrections
- Track pricing changes, feature releases, and positioning shifts across the nonprofit tech landscape
- Build and maintain a competitive intelligence database for ongoing reference
Content Development
- Support the weekly Fundraising Friday email series with research, outlines, and drafts
- Repurpose longer content into social posts, email snippets, and short-form formats
- Write clear, concise copy for a nonprofit audience
- Assist with blog posts, resource guides, and educational content
- Help maintain a consistent brand voice across content formats
- Organize content libraries and maintain an editorial calendar
SEO Support
- Assist with keyword research tied to nonprofit fundraising software searches
- Help optimize existing content for search visibility
- Identify content gaps and recommend topics based on search demand
- Support internal linking and basic on-page SEO across published pages
Qualifications
- Current college student, recent graduate, or early-career professional
- Detail-oriented and analytical, you verify before you publish
- Strong written communication skills
- Comfortable doing primary research beyond summarizing what already exists
- Interest in content marketing, journalism, nonprofit work, or competitive analysis
- Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a remote environment
- Professional and dependable when working independently
- Willing to receive feedback and revise work
Previous internship or professional experience is helpful but not required. We care more about intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to write clearly under real deadlines.
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- SEO tools such as Ahrefs, Semrush, or Google Search Console
- Content management systems
- Email marketing platforms
- Google Analytics
- Canva or basic graphic design
- Nonprofit sector knowledge
- Journalism or fact-checking background
What You Will Gain
- A published content portfolio with real traffic and measurable impact
- Hands-on experience with competitive research and SEO in a live business context
- Exposure to nonprofit fundraising technology and the organizations that use it
- Direct feedback and coaching from company leadership
- Experience maintaining content accuracy across a large, living content library
- Strong performers may be considered for expanded responsibilities, freelance work, or a long-term paid role as the company grows
What Success Looks Like
A successful intern will:
- Keep the competitor comparison hub accurate, sourced, and current
- Produce consistent research and content that meets editorial standards
- Meet deadlines and respond quickly to feedback
- Contribute ideas and flag issues without waiting to be asked
- Help improve search visibility and inbound credibility through well-sourced content
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal team members
