Counselor Assistant

Definition

Individual will assist in providing case management, individual and group counseling and recovery support services to Renewal Treatment Inc., clients in an AOD Inpatient setting. Other responsibilities include assisting counselors with treatment goals and connecting clients to community resources. This position will assist the client with creating and implementing a service plan during their treatment as well as their aftercare plan.  This person will enforce the compliance of program guidelines and assist the Clinical Supervisor, Lead Counselor and Counselors with the functioning of daily activities, developing policies and procedures and maintaining records. This person will work closely with counselors and community resources to strengthen client’s recovery efforts to help reduce recidivism and relapse.

 

Eligibility Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Act 33/34 and a high degree of ethics required.

 

Education and/or Experience

Master’s Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency. psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field.

 

Or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field.

 

Or, An Associate Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field.
