Two-year, part-time contractor

Approximately 15 hours per month, $525 - $700 per month

Organization: California Interfaith Power & Light (CIPL) is a statewide organization mobilizing faith communities to become leaders in the climate movement.  CIPL has 730+ member congregations across the state that we support in taking climate action, from greening their facilities, educating their congregations about climate justice, to advocating for policy change. 

California Interfaith Power & Light is seeking a part-time contractor to assist with community outreach and promotion of the TECH Clean California program and its available incentives for energy-efficient technologies. The project focuses on Los Angeles County, with priority outreach in Aliso Canyon and other disadvantaged or fire-affected communities. The ideal candidate brings experience with faith communities, outreach and organizing skills, and the ability to understand and effectively communicate the benefits and incentives for energy-efficient technologies.

The Clean Technology Fellow will assist CIPL staff with monthly engagement and outreach, resulting in an opportunity to host a clean tech resource table at at least one congregation or community event. The goal is to increase awareness of clean energy technologies and available incentives while helping individuals and faith-based facilities begin the process of accessing these programs and moving toward clean energy upgrades.

Goals: 

• Increase awareness of building decarbonization, healthy homes, and the TECH Initiative in underserved communities within Los Angeles County, but primarily targeting the Aliso Canyon Disaster Area and parts of the San Fernando Valley.
• Support community members in accessing TECH incentives and other available building electrification resources.
• Foster long-term community engagement and trust around healthy home technologies and environmental justice efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Southern California Director with tabling at houses of worship and community centers monthly
• Organize and track outreach efforts utilizing the clean technologies outreach tracking system.
• Follow-up calls or emails to a subset of participants to assess TECH program engagement and identify any obstacles to completion
• Research and conduct online and in-person outreach with congregations in Los Angeles County, with priority outreach in Aliso Canyon and other disadvantaged or fire-affected communities.
• Create and manage social media content related to energy-efficient technologies and incentives
• Input contact information into CIPL’s CRM and data tracking files to aid with outreach efforts

Qualifications:

• B.A. or B.S. 
• Strong organizational skills
• Detail oriented
• Collaborative team player
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Passion for climate justice and understanding of a religious/moral imperative for environmental stewardship
• Experience with Bloomerang or similar CRM a plus (such as data entry, mass email drafting)
• Spanish language skills a plus
• Experience working with faith communities a plus
• Knowledge of clean technologies a plus

Location: Los Angeles County and remote community engagement, outreach strategies, and event support, including tabling and workshop facilitation. Personal transportation is required.
