Position Title:                         Space Manager – Adams Intercultural Center (AIC)  

Semester/Year:                     2026-2027 Academic Year

Total Positions Available:      6-7

Supervisor:                            Shanelle France

Hours per week:                    3–8 hours per week, scheduled between 9 a.m.–10:00 p.m.

Pay rate:                                 $16 per hour 

Start Date:                             August 2026

End Date:                               May 2027

 

Description

The Adams Intercultural Center (AIC) at Hobart and William Smith Colleges seeks a passionate and responsible Student Space Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of the center, ensuring it serves as a welcoming, safe, and inclusive space for students. The Student Space Manager will foster a sense of community and provide support for programs and events that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and intercultural engagement.   

 

As a Space Manger, you will play an important role in fostering a sense of belonging, serving as an ambassador for the center, and helping others engage with our programs and resources. This position offers opportunities to build leadership, communication, and professional skills through hands-on experience in a supportive and collaborative environment. We encourage student workers to ask questions, seek feedback, share ideas, take initiative, and embrace new challenges. Successful team members demonstrate clear communication, honesty, organization, and a commitment to creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all.

 

Responsibilities

  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students. 
  • Act as an ambassador of the AIC by promoting the center as a resource and engaging with students, faculty, and staff. 
  • Monitor the physical space to ensure it is clean, organized, and welcoming. 
  • Maintain records of space usage, attendance, and event reports. 
  • Ensure compliance with building policies and safety protocols. 
  • Assist with the planning, execution, setup, and cleanup of events, workshops, and activities hosted by the AIC. 
  • Gather feedback from visitors and users to improve space utilization and programming. 
  • Assist with communications, such as promoting events on social media and campus platforms.
  • Complete special projects assigned by professional staff.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be in good academic and social standing. 
  • Students awarded Federal Work-Study encouraged to apply and are preferred. 
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills. 
  • Communicate effectively while maintaining professionalism, reliability, and confidentiality.
  • Work independently and collaboratively, with consistent punctuality and dependable attendance. 
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office/Outlook, Canva, Instagram, and other common office and communication tools.
