Description: The HWS Art Collection seeks one student to assist the Visual Arts Curator to catalog and rehouse artworks.
Responsibilities:
- Transcribe artwork data from printed documents to the collection management software PastPerfect
- Catalog artworks by noting artist, title, year, medium, dimensions, etc. in the collection management software PastPerfect
- Move artworks from old sleeves, folders, and/or boxes to new housing
- Research artists and artworks
- Assist with exhibition planning, installation, and deinstallation.
- Adhere to current museum standards when handling, cataloging, and rehousing art objects
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Applicants must be a current or future major/minor in Art History, Critical Museum Studies, Studio Art, or Architecture
- Applicants must be available to work fall and spring semester
- Interest in museums and collection work
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team
- Familiarity with using a tape measure
- Ability to research artworks
- Basic computer knowledge and skills, and the ability to learn new software
- Available personal laptop to use
- Highly reliable and punctual
