Staff Structural Engineer (EIT)

WJM Engineering, Inc. is seeking a full-time Staff Structural Engineer to join our Doylestown, PA 

office. The role of the Staff Structural Engineer is to execute projects according to strict quality standards, deadlines, and within budget while maintaining high levels of quality safety and client satisfaction.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related degree 

• 0-2 years of professional work experience 

• Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) required and pursuing Professional Engineer (P.E.) license 

• Experienced in structural analysis and design of wood framed residential structures 

• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit, structural design software, Bluebeam, Microsoft 

MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint 

Essential Functions: 

• Develops structural engineering construction drawings and calculations for wood 

framed single family and townhome dwellings including new, renovations, and 

repairs/retrofits 

• Prepares written engineering reports 

• Leads, schedules, and executes site inspections during the construction phase to 

document and assess construction problems  

• Leads, schedules, and executes site inspections and structural assessments of completed 

dwellings during the warranty phase of a project  

• Develops structural repair details utilizing AutoCAD and/or Revit 

• Manages project schedules including site inspections, project tasks, and deliverables to 

ensure client satisfaction 

• Works in teams with project managers, architects, structural engineers, and/or CAD 

technicians 

• Completes structural design of new and renovations or additions to residential woodframed structures including gravity and lateral design 

• Develops structural construction drawings including general notes, plans, and details 

utilizing AutoCAD and/or Revit 

• Provides QA/QC review of construction documents for conformance with design intent, 

building codes, and internal and industry standards 

• Attends meetings with clients including architects, builders, and homeowners

• A self-starter with the ability to learn quickly 

• Ability to proactively manage projects and ensure client satisfaction 

• Ability to use advanced problem-solving skills  

• Ability to delegate tasks as required 

• Ability to travel by automobile to project sites in eastern PA, NJ, MD, and DE 

• Enjoys a fast-paced work environment with ability to deliver projects quickly while 

maintaining rigorous quality control standards 

• Effectively manages multiple projects at a given time 

Work Environment/Physical Demands: 

• Maneuvering and lifting site inspection equipment 

• Climbing ladders 

• Completing inspections and assessments in confined spaces including attics and crawl 

spaces 

• Subject to activities that occur inside and outside, heat, and noise
