Description
The Access Services Student Assistant assists with circulation of materials at the Library’s Circulation Desk and with patrons locating materials in the Library collection. They also assist with maintaining and shelving library materials.
Responsibilities
- Check out library materials to patrons
- Retrieve items from reserves, inter-library loan and general collections
- Check in and shelve items into various collections
- Assist patrons in the use of library systems and locating library materials
- Learn library systems, policies, and the Library of Congress call number system
- Possess strong communication and customer service skills, willingness to take initiative
- Assist patrons with questions and direct to the proper staff person when appropriate
- Demonstrate high reliability, flexibility, and adaptability
- Work independently with minimal supervision
