Architectural Intern

This paid internship provides hands-on support to the senior partner, blending day-to-day administrative assistance with exposure to the architectural design and project process. The intern will help keep the senior partner’s schedule and correspondence running smoothly while assisting with marketing, drafting, documentation, basic web design, research, and other design-support tasks. This position requires the ability to manage a variety of assignments with limited supervision and to handle confidential information with discretion. Occasional travel may be necessary to visit the Building Department for permitting issues, so reliable transportation is required (mileage will be reimbursed).

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage the senior partner’s calendar, schedule meetings, and coordinate appointments and travel.
  • Assist marketing efforts via web designing, photoshop, paperback drafting or others. 
  • Answer incoming calls and emails and manage correspondence on behalf of the senior partner.
  • Utilize a task management tool, such as Asana or SharePoint, to track and prioritize assignments.
  • Assist with permit applications, coordinate with the Building Department on permitting issues, and maintain organized digital and physical project files.
  • Screen and prioritize incoming communications, and draft replies and follow-ups for the senior partner’s review.
  • Prepare agendas and materials for meetings, take minutes, and track resulting action items and deadlines.
  • Coordinate logistics for client meetings, site visits, and firm events, including catering, materials, and room setup.
  • Process expense reports, track receipts, and submit reimbursements in a timely manner.
  • Assist with architectural drafting and revisions in CAD software (such as AutoCAD or Revit) under the supervision of the senior partner.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in architecture, design, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with CAD software (such as AutoCAD or Revit) and the Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to learn how to utilize new technology or software.
  • Ability to write reports and professional correspondence. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Understanding of customer service; respond promptly to customer needs and requests.
  • Teamwork – balance team and individual responsibilities, encourage feedback, contribute to building positive team spirit. 
  • Ability to plan/organize, efficiently manage time.
  • Punctuality – consistently at work and on time.

The Assistant / Intern must have:

  • Capacity to lift or move boxes of paper, drawing sets, or physical models.
  • Ability to sit for several hours at a time.
