Quality Engineer

As the Quality Engineer you are responsible for collaborating with various functions to resolve quality issues and improve internal processes, and reporting out on improvement opportunities and initiatives to plant management.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Analyze quality trends and recommend improvements to help reduce Cost of Quality and improve yield.
  • Lead or participate on continuous improvement or corrective action teams as assigned.
  • Determine root cause of quality problems and implement effective corrective action.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to qualify and approve new processes, capital equipment and materials.
  • Prepare detailed quality plans for small-scale projects to reduce risk of producing non-conformances.
  • Provide or coordinate required project quality related deliverables, such as, PPAP’s, D/PFMEA, capability studies, statistical analysis, inspection plans, quality records, MSA, and workmanship standards.
  • Complete or assist with quality actions stemming from Design Reviews, DFMEA’s and PFMEA’s.
  • Provide training and mentoring to promote proper use and understanding of quality tools.
  • Recommend design, manufacturing or control changes to increase product performance, quality or reliability.
  • Participate on Material Review Board. Coordinate inspections or tests if necessary to determine disposition.
  • Work with suppliers on PPAP’s for new suppliers, new parts and new tools. 
  • Work with suppliers on corrective actions for non-conforming parts.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
     

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering or related field or equivalent experience 
  • Experience as a Technician or Engineer in a Manufacturing environment (including internship or co-op experience)
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient utilization of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
     

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering
  • 2-3 years experience as a Technician or Engineer in a Manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in technical skills, such as, statistical analysis, FMEA, SPC and other common quality tools
  • Experience with ERP and QMS software (JDE and EtQ preferred)
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, or Technician
  • 6 Sigma or other Lean Manufacturing Certification
  • ISO9000 experience
