Brownfield provides a broad range of environmental engineering and environmental science-based services to address: remediation and redevelopment, due diligence and site assessment, engineering and construction, waste management and materials disposal, asbestos and lead, health and safety, and environmental compliance. 

Brownfield is seeking a full-time Environmental Technician. This is a great opportunity to obtain diverse experience in the environmental consulting field. The position will pay based on education and experience. The full-time position includes vacation and holiday pay, health insurance, and company-paid YMCA membership. Brownfield is located in Beloit, WI and works predominantly through the central-northern Illinois, central-southern Wisconsin, and eastern Iowa areas.

General Job Description:

The position offers an opportunity to learn about a wide variety of environmental projects, work with a great team, and join a growing organization with a reputation for high-quality work and top-notch employees. In this position, the successful candidate will assist in managing all aspects of environmental projects to ensure that they are safely completed on time and within the scope and budget. Responsibilities will include a combination of field and office-related tasks and will include travel within southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Calibrate, operate, and maintain field monitoring equipment.
  • On-site monitoring, documentation, and managing contaminated soil for DOT projects in Illinois.
  • Assist with drafting proposals and bids for City, County, and State DOT projects.
  • Soil and groundwater sampling, analyzing laboratory data, and prepare written reports.
  • Asbestos surveys with licensed Asbestos Professionals.
  • Transport material samples to laboratory for testing and analysis.
  • Be responsible for maintaining and following safety rules, guidelines, and standards on all projects.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Some experience preferred, but not required.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history and a reliable automobile.
  • Must be comfortable with a constantly changing work environment.
  • Must be flexible with schedule. Occasionally irregular hours/weekends may be required.
