Nursery Coordinator

Nursery Coordinator 

Position Summary: 

This person will oversee nursery responsibilities in order to provide a safe, loving, structured, and quality program, as it aligns with our mission to Boldly share Jesus’ love and hope for birth to 3-year-olds at Providence Church. 

 Staff Expectations 

Will meet with the Director of Children’s Ministries quarterly to review: 

Upcoming goals or programs 

Obstacles 

Volunteer needs 

Supplies and needs (ex. Nametags, toys, books, cleaning supplies) 

Pray for the ministry 

Volunteer Coordination 

Create and maintain a quarterly volunteer schedule for Sunday Mornings, 

Send out weekly reminder e-mails to volunteers for the upcoming Sunday with the lesson attached. 

Respond to sick calls and volunteer absences 

Communicate with volunteers 

Create written volunteer expectations (reviewed yearly and presented to new volunteers as needed) 

Provide a Sunday morning checklist of duties, including cleaning procedures and Bible story/activity 

Post safety signs in the nursery.  For example: 

Handwashing 

First Aid Information 

Coordinate with the director to ensure all volunteers have Child Protection Policy training, paperwork, and background checks in place. 

Organize a deep cleaning of the nursery and toys at least once a quarter. 

Provide Structure for Sunday morning nursery 

Using the curriculum provided by the director, prepare volunteers to have a short lesson and bible story each Sunday with the 2 to 3-year-olds. 

Work with the Director of Children’s Ministries to implement and utilize an electronic check-in system 

Be present to welcome and check-in kids on Sunday mornings and provide support in the nursery through the service. 

Commitments: 

Communicates regularly with the Director of Children’s Ministries 

Reports to the Director of Children's Ministries 

Will meet with the Director yearly to evaluate position and discuss changes in the job description. 

Part-time position averaging 5 hours per week
