Weight Room Attendant

Position: Weight Room Attendant

Wage: $17.13 to $17.36 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Tom Taylor Family YMCA, Gig Harbor, WA

 

As a Weight Room Attendant, you will be responsible for engaging with members and maintain a clean, safe, and organized fitness floor. You will also be responsible for providing a quality experience to members and participants focused on YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
  • Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
  • YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning and/or Foundations of Group Exercise certification or equivalent, such as ACE, ACSM, or AFAA certifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic health and fitness principles and components, exercise prescription and strength training machines preferred
  • You have a positive attitude and previous experience with youth and diverse populations.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred).

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Greet and interact with members as they enter and exit the Fitness Center
  • Deliver youth equipment orientations, and assist members with spotting or form during their workouts
  • Ensure the fitness area remains clean and organized; dumbbells, weight plates, bars, and ensure equipment is working
