A/P/A Office Assistant

Position:       A/P/A Office Assistant
Fall 2026

Description

Seeking undergraduate office assistant to support in-person operations. Tasks include helping to maintain communal office spaces, supplies, and resources; setting and cleaning up for internal and external meetings and events; running errands; staffing A/P/A’s Fall 2026 exhibition in the 20 Cooper Square Gallery; answering Institute phone lines; welcoming visitors and assisting researchers; accepting deliveries; sorting mail; fulfilling online merchandise orders; and general office support. The office assistant is also required to staff evening Institute events. 

 

Qualifications

Candidates should be undergraduate students with an interest in Asian/Pacific/American history, communities, literature, arts, and/or scholarship. Must be highly organized, reliable, personable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. Previous administrative experience preferred. Graphic design (in particular, familiarity with Canva), photography, and social media experience are pluses, but not required – as professional development, students with those skills may request such assignments in order to build their professional portfolios.

 

Hours and Work Location

The student is expected to work ten to twenty hours per week of combined shift and event time. Our business hours are Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. E.T. and events are often scheduled during evening hours. Shifts must be worked in-office and during business hours. Each shift must be at least three hours in duration. Below are current Fall program dates (more TBA), during which the candidate is required to be available to work: 

Thursday, October 29, 2026, 2:00-9:30 p.m.

Friday, October 30, 2026 3:00-9:00 p.m.

Thursday, December 3, 2026 4:00-9:00 p.m.

Salary

NYU undergraduate: $17.00 per hour

This Fall 2026 position will begin Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Pending a performance review, reappointment for the Spring 2027 semester will be considered.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Law, the hourly base salary range for student employment positions are $17 per hour for undergraduate students while the graduate students’ wage is to be determined by the Local 2110 UAW Collective Bargaining Agreement. The current Local 2110 UAW Collective Bargaining Agreement expires August 31, 2026. As soon as an agreement is reached, NYU will honor all wage standards set by the agreement. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
