Student Assistant
Working under the direction of the UC Humanities Research Institute Senior Administrative Officer, the Student Assistant provides administrative and program support for a UC-wide research grant-funding institution. This position offers an ideal opportunity for students seeking hands-on experience in office administration, event planning and digital communication within an academic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administrative Support: Assist with day-to-day office operations, clerical duties, and general administrative tasks in support of the Institute’s leadership team (including the Director, Grants Manager, and Department Manager).
- Event & Program Assistance: Support the planning, setup, and execution of on-site events, seminars, and collaborative programs hosted by the Institute throughout the year.
- Special Projects: Assist with research assignments, special initiatives, and ad-hoc projects as needed.
- Communications Support: Help craft communications such as social media posts, web text, emails, and graphics.
Required Skills:
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and reliably with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and supervisors.
- Strong attention to detail, strong organizational skills, punctual, and consistently reliable.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively and follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
