About the Role
Former Congressman Adam Kinzinger is seeking a Social Media & Research Intern for his growing media operation. This is a social-media-first role: while our morning team gets the daily show out the door, you'll spend the afternoon cutting the best moments into short-form clips, writing platform-native copy, and getting it all posted across our channels. You'll also support the team with research and whatever else the day demands. This is a great fit for someone who lives on these platforms and wants hands-on experience running social for a fast-growing political media brand.
Responsibilities
- Cut and edit short-form vertical clips from each day's show for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms
- Write and publish social media copy for Twitter/X, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, adapted to each platform's voice and format
- Identify the most clippable, shareable moments from daily episodes and turn them around quickly
- Conduct research for upcoming stories, columns, and special projects, including background, historical context, and supporting sources
- Assist with podcast packaging and other content across Substack and YouTube as needed
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience editing short-form video (CapCut, Premiere, Descript, or similar)
- Strong instincts for what performs on TikTok, Instagram, and other short-form platforms
- Solid writing skills and a working knowledge of U.S. politics and current events
- Comfortable juggling varied tasks and turning content around quickly
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, and reliable in a remote setting
- Must be available daily from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM ET
