Tour Guide

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
As a Tour Guide with the University of Detroit Mercy Office of Admissions, you play a vital role in welcoming prospective students and families. Your main responsibility is to lead engaging and informative campus tours that highlight Detroit Mercy’s academics, facilities, and student life.
Campus Tours
- Lead scheduled tours Monday–Friday (morning/afternoon).
- Participate in tours for special groups/events, weekends, or after-hours as needed.
- Highlight key facilities, academic areas, residence halls, and student life spaces.
- Share personal student experiences and accurate information.
Campus Knowledge
- Know the campus layout, services, and student organizations.
- Stay up to date on majors, campus resources, and student support services.
Communication & Visitor Engagement
- Speak clearly and confidently.
- Answer questions with professionalism and enthusiasm.
- Tailor tours to guest interests and foster an inclusive atmosphere.
Admissions Event Suppor
- Assist with room setup, guest check-in, and materials.
Professional Conduct
- Maintain professional attire and appearance.
- Be punctual, prepared, and respectful.
- Report concerns or visitor feedback to the Campus Visit Experience Coordinator.
- Participate in ongoing training to strengthen tour guide skills
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn and recall facts about the McNichols Campus
- Be able to adapt to changing tour routes and schedules (within reason)
- Have a passion for Detroit Mercy and a willingness to share your personal experiences with the University.
Anticipated Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, from 10:00am to 12:30pm, or 2:30pm to 5:00pm
