ABA Connections of PA, LLC is an agency that provides 1:1 behavior therapy, speech therapy and special instruction to children in their homes, school and community throughout Philadelphia, Bensalem and parts of Montgomery County. Please note that our interview process is extensive and there are several steps to go through. Applicants are asked to complete multiple assessments and conduct phone and in-person interviews.

Early Intervention Special Instructor (SI)

• PA teaching license needed in Early childhood or Special Education
• Degree in either early intervention, early childhood education, special education, child development, family studies, or elementary education.

POSITION:

The primary purpose of the Special Instructor (SI) is to work with families while providing Special Instructor services to toddlers (ages 3-5) who have qualified for Early Intervention services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide one-on-one therapy sessions or group sessions in various settings, including home, school, and community, as specified in each child's IEP.
• Design the learning environment and activities to encourage the child to acquire developmental skills, cognition, and social skills. Work with family and caregivers to establish daily routines to increase learning.
• Provide information and resources to families.
• Collect data on client progress
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent and effective treatment
• Communicate with parents and caregivers to provide updates on progress and strategies for generalization of skills
• Participate in IEP development.
• Ensure all students are serviced in their least restrictive environment.
• Plan and organize instruction in ways to maximize the child’s learning.
• Implement curriculum that encourages goal attainment as per the IEP.
• Understand the special needs of the child and advocate for the child with others.
• Attend and participate in meetings as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early intervention, early childhood education, special education, child development or family studies.
• One year experience working directly with pre-school children or children with disabilities and their families.
• PA Teaching certification in Early childhood or Special Education
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable transportation to travel to different therapy locations
