Accounting Intern (Bookkeeping & Tax)
We are a locally owned tax and accounting firm serving individuals and small businesses throughout all 50 States. We are seeking an Accounting Intern who is within one semester of graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar.
This internship is designed to build a strong foundation in bookkeeping, client service, and office operations before advancing into tax preparation responsibilities. As your knowledge and confidence grow, you'll gain hands-on experience preparing tax returns under the guidance of experienced accountants. High-performing interns may be considered for a full-time position after graduation.
- Responsibilities
Assist with bookkeeping and monthly accounting for small business clients. - Reconcile bank and credit card accounts.
- Provide professional customer service by answering phones, greeting clients, and responding to client inquiries.
- Schedule appointments and assist with client document collection.
- Maintain confidentiality of client financial information.
Growth Opportunities
As training milestones are achieved, responsibilities may expand to include:
- Assisting with the preparation of individual and business tax returns.
- Reviewing tax documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Learning tax software and tax research fundamentals.
- Assisting senior staff with tax planning and compliance projects.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Expected graduation within one semester.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional demeanor and commitment to confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software is a plus.
- Previous bookkeeping, office, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
