About Us

Stepping Stones China is a non-profit organisation registered in Shanghai with a 3A status. With a mission to improve the education and general welfare of disadvantaged children in China, Stepping Stones has hosted numerous programs focused on children’s education and well-being since 2006. We recruit, train and support volunteers to teach essential 21st-century skills to under-served children and youth in China, focusing on digital literacy, foreign language, and social-emotional learning. We also provide professional training to foreign language teachers.

Stepping Stones’ work began in 2006, when principals of migrant schools in Shanghai and rural Chinese schools asked our founder to teach English to their students. English is the subject that poses the most challenges to rural and other under-served children, due to inadequate English language learning resources. Lack of attainment in English skills restricts educational and employment opportunities for disadvantaged children and youth. Our main objectives are to improve students’ motivation and confidence in English, which are two key dimensions of learning a second language.

Our program delivers lessons to thousands of students each year in 11 provinces. Students who participate in our program show increased interest and confidence in their studies, which improves their access to educational and work opportunities in the future. Additionally, students are exposed to different cultures, and get early experience of volunteer programs and volunteering spirit.

Job Description

• Assist the Stepping Stones team to write reports on the GlobalGiving platform and help the organisation enhance its fundraising and marketing strategy on the platform
• Write thank-you letters to donors on GlobalGiving
• Explore new fundraising opportunities on GlobalGiving, including updating existing projects and establishing new projects
• Explore new ways to help raise the rank of Stepping Stone on GlobalGiving
• Search for new grant opportunities to support Stepping Stones (e.g., Bosch China and Lenovo Foundation)
• Come up with suggestions to improve Stepping Stones' online fundraising activities and strategy
• Assist in designing and preparing proposals and materials for corporate partnership activities
• Organise and update promotional materials for existing Stepping Stones projects, and design materials for future new initiatives
• Utilize social media platforms to conduct fundraising campaigns targeting UK private schools
• Teaching for Stepping Stones programs if needed.

Requirements

• Bilingual English–Chinese intern preferred
• Ability to work independently
• Minimum commitment is 2 days per week for 3-4 months; other scheduling needs may be considered on a case by case basis.

我们的主要目标是提升学生学习英语的积极性和自信心，这是学习第二语言的两个关键要素。

我们的项目每年为来自中国 11个省份的学生提供课时服务。参加我们项目的学生在自信心和学习兴趣方面都有显著的改善和提高，这也有助于他们将来获得更好的教育和工作机会。此外，学生可以接触到不同的文化，并较早地接触到志愿者项目和志愿精神。

职位描述

• 协助铺路石团队撰写GlobalGiving网站上的报告，提升铺路石在该网站的筹款能力和市场策略；
• 负责GlobalGiving网站上捐赠者感谢信的回复；
• 研究GlobalGiving平台上的筹款途径，包括更新现有的项目和建立新的细分项目；
• 帮助铺路石在GlobalGiving网站上提高综合排名；
• 尝试给出改进铺路石线上筹款方式的建议；
• 寻找新的支持铺路石运营的资金来源，比如申请博世中国、联想基金会等的项目；
• 协助设计与准备企业合作活动的方案
• 与材料；
• 整理和更新现有铺路石项目的宣传材料，并为未来的新项目设计宣传素材；
• 运用社交媒体平台，针对英国私立学校等机构开展筹款活动；
• 在有需要时参与铺路石的教学活动。

要求

• 优先考虑有英语和中文双语能力的申请人；
• 有独立工作的能力；
• 每周至少工作2天，为期3-4个月；其他时间安排需求将根据具体情况而定。
