MBA HR PMO Intern-part time

Role Overview

We are seeking a high-performing MBA intern to join our Human Resources organization in a part-time role focused on helping stand up and operationalize a new Project Management Office (PMO) for the HR function.

While this role sits within HR, we are intentionally looking for someone with a broader business, operations, consulting, or project management mindset rather than a traditional HR-only background. The primary objective is to bring structure, coordination, accountability, and visibility to key HR initiatives across the enterprise.

This opportunity is ideal for an MBA student who is comfortable working in ambiguous environments, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders, and helping leaders turn strategy into execution. The intern will serve as a central point of coordination across HR functional areas, helping manage the HR roadmap, track progress, surface blockers, and ensure key deliverables stay on track.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the HR roadmap end-to-end, ensuring visibility into priorities, milestones, timelines, and dependencies.
  • Serve as the central hub for project coordination across all HR functional areas.
  • Partner with HR functional teams to track progress, identify risks, surface blockers, and drive accountability.
  • Operate within Asana as the primary project management tool, ensuring project plans, owners, timelines, and updates remain current.
  • Follow up with project owners to ensure timelines and deliverables are met.
  • Help create structure and repeatable processes for how HR initiatives are tracked, managed, reported, and escalated.
  • Support preparation for leadership updates, roadmap reviews, and executive-level discussions.
  • Assist with the start/stop/continue process by organizing input, tracking recommendations, and preparing materials for leadership review.
  • Support PMT proposal preparation, including coordination of inputs, project summaries, timelines, and business rationale.
  • Help develop dashboards, status reports, and summaries that provide clear visibility into HR priorities and progress.
  • Bring a consulting-style approach to problem solving, process improvement, and cross-functional execution.
  • Partner with HR leadership and functional teams to help establish the foundation, operating rhythm, and governance structure for the HR PMO.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an MBA program.
  • Strong interest or background in project management, consulting, strategy, operations, business transformation, HR strategy, or organizational effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and creating structure where processes may still be evolving.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex information clearly for leadership audiences.
  • Highly collaborative and able to build relationships across functions.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable following up with stakeholders to drive accountability.
  • Experience with project management tools preferred; familiarity with Asana is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance part-time professional work with academic responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in consulting, project management, business operations, transformation, HR, strategy, or program management.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional initiatives or enterprise-wide projects.
  • Ability to create executive-ready materials, including project summaries, status updates, roadmap documents, and presentation decks.
  • Comfort working with senior leaders and stakeholders across multiple teams.
  • Interest in how large organizations organize work, prioritize initiatives, and drive accountability across functions.
