Program: Fall Afterschool Gardening & Nature Exploration
Compensation: $45–$65 per session (depending on experience)
About the Role
We're looking for a passionate and energetic Gardening & STEAM Instructor to lead an engaging after-school enrichment program that connects students with the natural world through hands-on gardening, outdoor exploration, and environmental learning.
Students will discover how plants grow, explore local ecosystems, and learn about sustainability through interactive activities that encourage curiosity, responsibility, and a deeper appreciation for nature.

Responsibilities
- Lead engaging gardening and nature exploration lessons using provided curriculum.
- Guide students through planting, watering, soil care, and basic garden maintenance.
- Introduce environmental concepts such as ecosystems, pollinators, composting, and sustainability.
- Encourage curiosity, teamwork, responsibility, and environmental stewardship.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment during both indoor and outdoor activities.
- Prepare lesson materials and gardening supplies before each session.
- Communicate professionally with school staff and follow all site procedures.
Requirements
- Experience working with children in a school, camp, or youth program setting.
- Comfortable leading outdoor, nature-based, and hands-on learning activities.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently.
- Enthusiastic about creating engaging outdoor learning experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in environmental science, biology, education, horticulture, gardening, or a related field.
- Experience leading outdoor education, gardening, sustainability, or nature-based programs.
- Passion for environmental education and hands-on learning.
