Afterschool STEAM Teacher

Afterschool STEAM Engineering Instructor

Location: Redwood City, CA
Program: K–2 STEAM Engineering Enrichment
Position Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Fall 2026 Afterschool Program
Compensation: $45–$65 per session (depending on experience)

About the Role

We're looking for enthusiastic and engaging STEAM Engineering Instructors to lead hands-on after-school enrichment classes for K–2 students in Redwood City. Through creative building challenges and interactive engineering activities, you'll introduce young learners to foundational concepts in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics while encouraging curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving.

This role is ideal for educators, college students, engineers, makers, and STEAM enthusiasts who enjoy inspiring children through hands-on, project-based learning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging, hands-on STEAM engineering lessons using provided curriculum.
  • Facilitate interactive building challenges and age-appropriate design activities.
  • Encourage creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
  • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain strong classroom management and student engagement throughout each session.
  • Prepare lesson materials and activity supplies before each class.
  • Communicate professionally with school staff and follow all site procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience working with elementary-aged children.
  • Comfortable facilitating hands-on STEAM and engineering activities.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Reliable, organized, professional, and punctual.
  • Ability to lead structured, engaging group activities for young learners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in education, engineering, science, technology, robotics, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching enrichment, after-school, camp, or youth programs.
  • Experience facilitating maker education, engineering challenges, or project-based learning.
