WORK STUDY — Employer Relations Intern with Career Services (2026-2027)
Work at Career Services and work on team projects, grow professionally, network with employers, and develop your personal brand. Duties include (but not limited to) new employee training, collaboration with other interns, and advancing your event planning skills.

Position Summary
The Employer Relations (ER) intern is trained in various aspects of the office. The ER Intern may greet and host employers at their tablings and information sessions. Additionally, the ER Intern will seek complete educational and professional development opportunities. The Assistant Director (AD) of ER & Events will provide supervision of ER Interns.
Position Responsibilities
Project Management
With guidance from the AD:
- Assist with event details for Fall and Spring semesters. Events include but are not limited to: Career Fairs, College Networking Nights, Etiquette Dinner, Photos with Santa, On Campus Job Fair, Snack and Asks
- Inventory management and signage for office events; notify supervisor of supplies needed
- Schedule employer tablings and information sessions
- Greet employers at tablings and host employers at events
- Oversee preparation of event materials, such as recruiter nametags and employer packets
- If assigned, support additional ER programming (e.g., Co-op Program, Distinguished Employer Program)
Communications
- Provide excellent front line customer service, including emailing employers
- Collaborate with marketing staff (e.g., flyers, sandwich boards)
- If applicable, train new team members how to staff Career Services tablings at promotional events (e.g., Grad Fairs, UIdaho Bound)
Logistics
- Manage job board system, including reviewing employer requests, job postings, and RSS labeling
- Receive higher level job board review responsibilities from the AD and/or Lead Intern
- Enter attendance/evaluation data for employer information sessions, events, and on-campus interviews
- Support employer outreach and communication efforts
Education/Development
- Attend and contribute to intern team meetings
- Research and present articles/topics on employment trends across different industries
- Participate in trainings offered by Employee Development and Learning (EDL) and Human Resources
- Conduct informational interview with staff to discuss career/professionalism topics
Analytical/Problem-Solving
- Review and analyze event data such as survey responses looking for opportunities for change
- Seek opportunities to innovate and problem-solve for better processes that support the Career Services mission and vision
- If possible, participate on a hiring committee or advisory group
Administration
- Renew FERPA (student records privacy) tutorial in VandalWeb
- Support new interns as they onboard
Qualifications
- Full-time undergraduate or graduate student
- Work-study eligible
- Must be able to work 6-8 hours per week (14-15 weeks each semester)
- Minimum of two-semester commitment
- Strong customer service experience
- Event planning and job board management skills
- Excellent teamwork and leadership skills
- Strong communication skills—public speaking, written and interpersonal
- Comfortable and willing to train peers on ER processes
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Willing to work flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends
- Ability to lift and/or move boxes, equipment, and supplies for event set-up (20+ lbs.)
Pay Rate
$12 per hour
