Graphic Design Intern

Graphic Design Intern

The Autoimmune Fund

Summer 2026 start, continuing through fall and beyond |  Part-Time, Paid  |  Los Angeles (In-Person, walking distance to UCLA)

Do you think in color, type, and layout? Can you take a messy pile of ideas and turn it into something people actually want to look at? Do you get a little thrill when a slide finally clicks? Perfect. And if you are the kind of person who notices when a number on that slide looks off, even better. The Autoimmune Fund is looking for a Graphic Design Intern to help us give an overlooked category the visual identity it has never had.

To apply

Email your resume and, most importantly, a portfolio (a link or PDF of slides, graphics, or visual work) to bonnie@autoimmune.fund, with the subject line [Your Name] Graphic Design Intern 2026. A short note on why you want to work with Dr. Bonnie Feldman, and what kind of design you love making, goes a long way.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Strong candidates may be invited to a short, paid design exercise so we can see how you think, not just what you have already made. The exercise will include working with a small set of real numbers, so we can see how you handle data as well as layout. Do not wait to apply.

You will only be considered if you email your documents. Please do not submit through Handshake alone.

Why it matters

Autoimmune disease affects more than 50 million Americans, and roughly 80% of them are women. Most wait years for a diagnosis and a lifetime for better treatments. Capital never organized around this the way it did around cancer, and one big reason is that no one has made the problem visible. That is the work: using design to help investors, and the world, finally see the millions of patients behind the numbers. Every deck, chart, and graphic you make moves that forward.

The Autoimmune Fund is the first venture fund dedicated exclusively to autoimmune and immune-mediated disease. We invest at the Seed and Series A stages across diagnostics, therapeutics, devices, digital health, and new care models in a $150B+ market that, until now, has had no visual language. That is where you come in.

What you'll do

This role sits at the intersection of design, science, and storytelling, and no two weeks look exactly the same. You will:

  • Design and polish investor pitch decks, portfolio updates, and presentation materials that are clean, on-brand, and genuinely compelling.
  • Turn complex science and real data into clear, accurate charts, diagrams, and visual explainers. A lot of this role is making numbers legible, so getting the figures right matters as much as making them look good.
  • Design visually stunning ebooks and long-form guides, from cover to interior pages.
  • Create social and LinkedIn graphics, one-pagers, and newsletter visuals in the fund's voice.
  • Help build and maintain templates, a color palette, and a consistent visual identity across everything we produce.
  • Support the design of our flagship publication, The Immune Decade: 2026 Report, a first-of-its-kind institutional report on the autoimmune market.
  • Experiment with AI design and productivity tools to work faster and try more ideas.

Did we lose you at “investor” or “LPs”? Do not worry. We do not expect you to arrive knowing venture capital. If this world feels unfamiliar, that is exactly why you should apply. We will teach you the science and the strategy. You bring the eye, and a comfort with getting the numbers right.

Who you'll work with

You will work closely with our founder and CEO, Dr. Bonnie Feldman (DDS, MBA), a former clinical dentist, Wall Street equity research analyst, and venture-backed startup founder. She has spoken at TEDx and Stanford Medicine X, she is equal parts strategist and storyteller, and she is always up for a good brainstorm. You will also collaborate with our founding fellows on the science and investment sides, so you will never be designing in a vacuum.

What you'll get

Real work, made for real audiences, with real stakes. You will walk away with polished decks, graphics, and framework visuals designed for institutional investors and healthcare leaders, plus a front-row seat to how a specialized venture fund gets built. And the work adds up to something bigger than a portfolio: the clearer we make this category, the more capital flows to the treatments and care patients have been waiting decades for.

Hours & perks

We are looking for a part-time start in Summer 2026 that continues through the fall and beyond, ideally a full-year commitment spanning 2026 and 2027. This is a paid role (hourly or stipend), roughly 10 to 20 hours per week, with scheduling flexible around your classes. It is in-person, based in Dr. Feldman's home office within walking distance of the UCLA campus, so you will need to be in Los Angeles. Perks include meals prepared by a private chef and plenty of coffee.

Qualifications

  • A graduate student in design (preferred), a student on a gap year, or a 4th-year undergraduate at UCLA or an equivalent program.
  • Based in Los Angeles and able to work in person near UCLA.
  • A portfolio that shows a strong eye for layout, typography, color, and hierarchy, ideally including ebook or editorial layout, and a chart or data-driven graphic if you have one. We care more about clarity and taste than polish.
  • Comfortable with numbers and data. You do not need to love statistics or have a math background, but you do need to read a chart, notice when a figure looks wrong, and represent data accurately. A chart that looks good and says the wrong thing does not help us.
  • Fluent in a few design tools such as Figma, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Slides, or PowerPoint.
  • Curious, quick to learn, open to feedback, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • A bonus, not a requirement: interest in science or healthcare, or prior work in data visualization.
  • Has a personality (yes, really).
