Company Description Katel Initiative for Neurodiverse Excellence and Resilience (KINDER) is dedicated to supporting learners with diverse learning and so profiles through individualized, evidence-informed educational and coaching services. Based in New York, NY, the KINDER focuses on helping children, adolescents, young adults, and their families build executive functioning skills,  resilience, self-advocacy, college and career readiness skills, and support with anything students need to reach their full potential. Coaches integrate academic support, executive function skills, collaboration with mental health professionals, and parent training to help achieve our clients' goals. KINDER values inclusivity, neurodiversity affirming approaches, and close partnerships with all stakeholders in an individuals life (i.e. schools, caregivers, neuropsychologists, therapists, psychiatrists, etc.)  to promote long-term success for neurodiverse learners without the need for our program.

 

Role Description The Educational Therapist will provide one-on-one support to neurodiverse learners, designing and delivering individualized interventions that target academic skills, executive functioning, and independent functioning. You will have a case load of 5+ students (depending on your comfort). Sessions are 45 mins to 1 hr and we serve kids ages 5-21+ though current age range skews 12+. The role involves collaborating with caregivers, school personnel, and other professionals to coordinate support and adjust interventions as needed. There will be a hybrid work arrangement, based in New York, NY, with a combination of in-person and virtual sessions. This role comes with extensive training and supervision to ensure our clients are getting high-quality, and evidence-informed support.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in Education and working with children, with a strong commitment to inclusive, learner-centered practice.
  • Knowledge of learning disabilities, neurodevelopment disorders, and mental health diagnoses
  • Background in Psychology or related fields, with the ability to integrate social-emotional and behavioral considerations into educational plans.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Relevant degree  or in process of getting a degree in education, special education, psychology, or a related discipline
  • Ability to take feedback
  • Looking for a highly engaging person who can easily connect with youth and families.
  • Comfort with hybrid work, including use of digital tools for documentation, tele-sessions, and coordination.
  • Prior experience supporting neurodiverse learners, such as those with ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, or specific learning disorders, is a strong plus.
