Position Overview
The Ursuline School seeks a creative, detail-oriented Marketing & Communications Assistant to support storytelling, content creation, photography, and digital communications. This part-time position is ideal for a current college student or recent graduate interested in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, digital media, photography, or a related field.
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications, the Marketing & Communications Assistant will help tell the stories that define The Ursuline School through photography, written content, digital communications, and social media. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a mission-driven educational environment while building a professional portfolio and developing practical marketing and communications skills.
Start Date: On or about September 1, 2026
Reports To: Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications
Compensation: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Approximately 10 – 20 hours per week, with flexibility around academic schedules. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required to support school events.
Responsibilities
- Capture high-quality photos and short-form videos of school events, classrooms, athletics, performances, and student life.
- Organize, edit, and curate photos and videos for use across the school's website, social media platforms, email communications, and print marketing materials.
- Conduct informal interviews with students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumnae to gather quotes and develop story ideas.
- Assist in writing news stories, feature articles, social media content, testimonials, and other communications materials.
- Support the creation, scheduling, and publishing of social media content.
- Assist with website content updates and other digital marketing initiatives.
- Help maintain editorial calendars, digital assets, photography archives, and project files.
- Assist with monitoring and reporting website, email, and social media analytics.
- Support marketing and communications initiatives as assigned by the Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate student or recent graduate pursuing (or having completed) coursework in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, Photography, English, or a related field preferred.
- Strong photography skills with the ability to capture compelling candid and event photography.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Enthusiasm for storytelling, creative content development, and digital communications.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar creative software is preferred but not required.
