Math Tutor (In School)

Job Description
Location: Corona/Riverside, CA (Alvord Unified School District)
Pay: $22 per hour
Start Date: August 17, 2026

Position Overview

Ignite the Mind K-12 is hiring 5 push-in math tutors to support 7th grade students across four Alvord Unified middle school sites: Wells Middle School, Arizona Middle School, Loma Vista Middle School, and Ysmael Villegas Middle School.

Tutors will push directly into 7th grade math classrooms during the school day, working alongside classroom teachers to reinforce instruction, support small groups, and help close the math achievement gap for students who need it most. This is a district-wide initiative with a clear, measurable goal: each participating school will increase its distance from standards score by at least 5 percentage points over the course of the year.

We primarily serve at-risk student populations, including English Language Learners, students with IEPs, and foster youth. Our work goes beyond academics — tutors are expected to support students' confidence, engagement, and overall sense of belonging in the math classroom.

This role is ideal for aspiring educators, math-focused students, psychology or social work majors, and anyone passionate about equity in education.

Schedule

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
(Tuesdays reserved for biweekly district-run professional development)
