Financial Reporting Student Assistant
About the Opportunity
UC Agriculture and Natural Resources’ Resource Planning and Management team is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated student assistant to support financial analysis and reporting.
In this role, you will help collect, organize, validate, and analyze financial data using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and other reporting and data visualization tools. You will also prepare tables, charts, dashboards, and other materials for financial reports and leadership presentations and support the documentation of financial reporting processes and procedures. Your work will help improve the accuracy, consistency, and usefulness of financial information across UC ANR.
This position provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in financial analysis, financial reporting, data visualization, and quality assurance while working with experienced professionals in a collaborative environment.
The position requires working in the Oakland office at least one day per week, with the opportunity to work remotely for the remainder of the week. Work hours may be scheduled around academic commitments.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with collecting, entering, organizing, validating, and reviewing financial data using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and other reporting tools. (60%)
• Create tables, charts, dashboards, and data summaries for financial reports, presentations, and other reporting materials. (15%)
• Assist with reviewing financial data for accuracy, identifying trends or inconsistencies, and documenting reporting processes and procedures. (15%)
• Participate in team meetings and assist with file organization, documentation, and other administrative tasks. (10%)
Qualifications
Applicants must:
• Be enrolled or accepted at an accredited community college, college, or university.
• Maintain at least a half-time course load of six units and provide proof of student status.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be analytical, organized, and attentive to detail.
• Be able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic, initiative, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Be able to build positive working relationships and communicate professionally.
• Be available to work in the Oakland office at least one day per week.
Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Google Sheets, or other data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools is preferred but not required. Students with an interest in finance, accounting, data analytics, business, economics, or a related field are encouraged to apply.
