We are a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool that is seeking substitute teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. The substitute teacher will assist the regular classroom teacher(s) in the daily supervision of children and working with children in whole and small group activities. They will also assist in light cleaning and classroom maintenance.

All substitute teachers must undergo a complete background clearance through the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, provide an up-to-date medical form with immunizations, be authorized to work to work in the US, and complete required trainings by the NYCDOHMH.

Hours and days will vary based and requests for substitutes may be scheduled in advance (due to planned absence) or last-minute due to teacher illness/emergency absences. 

About The Family Annex: We are a small nursery school that is affiliated with Columbia University and offers both half and full days (8-5:45pm) in an eleven-month program. For the past 20 years we have embraced the Reggio Emilia philosophy and rely on the children’s interests to drive the curriculum and long-term projects. We serve children ages 17 months-5 years old.
