5th Grade Teacher

The Academy for Science and Design (ASD) is New Hampshire's #1-ranked, tuition-free public charter school and a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Serving roughly 700 students in grades 5–12 from across the state, ASD is dedicated to nourishing curious minds and preparing students to become thoughtful, compassionate leaders in science and technology. Our 5th grade program is a growing part of that mission, giving students an early foundation in the same hands-on, inquiry-driven approach that defines the ASD experience.

ASD is seeking a passionate, dedicated 5th Grade Teacher to join our program for the upcoming school year. You'll help lay the academic and social-emotional groundwork for students entering our STEM-focused school community, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a genuine love of learning from day one.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction across core subject areas (ELA, math, science, and social studies)
  • Create a classroom culture that reflects ASD's core beliefs: curiosity as a catalyst for learning, high expectations, and a commitment to global citizenship
  • Integrate hands-on, project-based, and inquiry-driven learning experiences that build a foundation for ASD's STEM curriculum
  • Differentiate instruction to support a wide range of learners
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers, specialists, and school leadership on curriculum development and student support
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment

Qualifications:

  • Genuine enthusiasm for STEM education and hands-on learning
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • A growth mindset — ASD believes teachers are learners too
  • Strong classroom management skills and a student-centered teaching philosophy
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's ideal)
  • Experience teaching upper elementary grades strongly preferred
  • Ideal candidates would have a NH teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain one)
