Preschool Afternoon Assistant Teacher

We are a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool that is seeking an assistant teacher to work  afternoons in our classrooms, with additional substitute work available.

Key responsibilities include:

•      Assist teachers in walking to/from outdoor play and supervising outdoor activities

•      Assist teachers in dismissing children

•      Assist teachers in setting up and leading afternoon provocations and activities

•      Plan developmentally appropriate activities for small afternoon group

•      Carry out responsibilities for supervising children

•      Develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents, and teachers

•      Assist in cleaning up and setting up for the following day

The candidate must have a minimum of a BA and experience working with groups of young children. The candidate must be available afternoons from 3-6pm, with additional subbing hours possible. 

All teachers must undergo a complete background clearance through the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, complete required trainings, provide an up-to-date medical form and immunization record, and be eligible to work in the U.S.

About The Family Annex: We are a small nursery school that is affiliated with Columbia University and offers both half and full days in an eleven-month program.  For the past 20+ years we have embraced the Reggio Emilia philosophy and rely on the children’s interests to drive the curriculum and long-term projects.
