Youth Soccer Coach
Position Overview
We are seeking energetic and dependable Youth Soccer Coaches to support soccer programming within local elementary schools. In this role, you will lead engaging training sessions for young players, helping them build confidence, develop soccer fundamentals, and enjoy an active learning experience. Coaches will follow established curriculum guidelines while creating a fun, safe, and supportive environment for participants.
Primary Duties
Lead Soccer Activities
- Conduct age-appropriate soccer sessions using provided lesson plans and training resources.
- Teach fundamental techniques, movement skills, and basic game concepts.
- Encourage participation through positive instruction and constructive feedback.
Support Player Growth
- Help students develop soccer skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Foster an environment where players feel motivated, included, and successful.
- Encourage individual progress and celebrate player achievements.
Maintain a Safe Environment
- Prioritize participant safety during all activities and training sessions.
- Monitor players for signs of injury, fatigue, or dehydration.
- Follow established emergency procedures and provide basic first aid when appropriate.
Communication & Teamwork
- Build positive relationships with students, school staff, families, and fellow coaches.
- Promote respect, inclusion, and good character throughout all program activities.
- Collaborate with coaching staff to ensure a high-quality participant experience.
Equipment & Program Setup
- Assist with field preparation before sessions and cleanup afterward.
- Ensure training equipment is organized, available, and in good working condition.
- Report equipment needs or safety concerns as they arise.
Attendance & Administration
- Track participant and staff attendance as required.
- Complete any necessary program documentation accurately and on time.
Qualifications
- Enjoys working with children and creating a fun, positive environment.
- Reliable, responsible, and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, energetic, and able to engage elementary-aged children.
- Experience working with children (coaching, teaching, camps, childcare, babysitting, etc.) is a plus.
- Students or graduates pursuing degrees in Education, Child Development, Kinesiology, Psychology, Recreation, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
- Soccer experience is helpful, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are more important.
Schedule
- Part-time position following the academic school calendar.
- Sessions are typically held on weekdays during morning and afternoon hours.
Work Environment
- Most coaching activities take place outdoors at school athletic fields.
- Coaches should be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and being active throughout sessions.
