Meridian's wholly owned subsidiary, Sandpiper Telecom, is seeking a Drafter to support outside plant (OSP) engineering and telecommunications design work across our Alaska project portfolio. This role produces and maintains accurate CAD and GIS-based drawings used for fiber and utility network design, permitting, and construction. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career drafter looking to build a career in telecom and utility infrastructure design in Alaska.

Key Responsibilities • Draft and update outside plant (OSP) telecommunications design drawings using AutoCAD (Civil 3D experience a plus) • Update telecom and utility plant maps with field and utility data using GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS • Support project cost estimating, including RUS unit-based estimates • Assist with permitting packages, easement research, and right-of-way documentation • Support pole loading analyses and make-ready engineering under the direction of OSP engineers • Coordinate with OSP engineers, project managers, and field crews to ensure drawings reflect accurate, constructible designs

Qualifications • Degree, certificate, or coursework in drafting, civil/CAD technology, GIS, surveying, or a related field (or equivalent experience) • Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with Civil 3D and ESRI ArcGIS/QGIS is a plus • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills • Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, permitting, and field teams • Drug and alcohol free

Preferred, But Not Required • Familiarity with telecommunications/utility plant maps, easements, and rights-of-way • Exposure to pole loading software (e.g., Katapult Pro) • Interest in fiber optic network design (FTTH, middle-mile, or backbone)
