About the Role
Esurgi is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Grant Writer (PhD Student) to support the development and submission of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant applications. This individual will collaborate closely with external consultants and Grant Writing Interns, ensuring the team is aligned, properly trained, and producing high-quality grant proposals.
The ideal candidate has a proven history of winning grant(s) including with NIH or DoD.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with external grant writing consultants throughout the grant application process.
Mentor and guide Grant Writing Interns to ensure they understand grant requirements and submission expectations.
Review, edit, and provide feedback on grant applications and supporting documentation.
Ensure grant process meets requirements, deadlines, and quality standards.
Coordinate with internal teams to gather technical, scientific, and business information required for proposals.
Minimum Requirements
Currently pursuing or holding an advanced degree, such as a PhD, MD, DPT, PharmD, or equivalent, in a relevant scientific, engineering, clinical, or healthcare discipline. Postdoctoral training is preferred but not required.
Strong experience writing, reviewing, and editing grant proposals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to mentor junior team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong organizational skills; project management skills are preferred.
Ability to work in a remote environment.
Demonstrated history of winning Grant Applications especially for NIH or DoD is preferred.
Commitment
Approximately 10 hours per week
Commitment for the duration of the grant application process (approximately 20 weeks)
Compensation
Successful candidates will receive one of the following compensation options:
A compensated role funded through the awarded grant during the grant execution period; or
Convertible Notes for winning a funding round.
