Supervisor Technician – Machining

Position Summary

The Supervisor Technician – Machining serves as a manufacturing floor leader responsible for supporting daily machining operations and helping ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are achieved. This role provides direct leadership and guidance to production teams, coordinates resources, resolves operational issues, and works closely with Quality, Engineering, Materials, and Production teams to maintain efficient workflow and minimize downtime.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must have completed an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or approved technical program before the employment start date.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must not require current or future employment visa sponsorship.
  • Previous manufacturing supervisory or team-lead experience is required.

 

This position is well suited for candidates with machining or manufacturing experience and proven supervisory or team leadership experience in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct daily activities of production employees based on production priorities and staffing needs.
  • Coordinate with Materials, Production, Quality, Engineering, and other departments to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
  • Respond to operational issues and production interruptions to minimize downtime and support productivity goals.
  • Ensure proper containment and escalation of quality concerns and nonconforming material.
  • Promote and support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the production floor and provide hands-on leadership and support to employees.
  • Monitor production performance and address issues that may impact schedules, quality, or customer requirements.
  • Support employee training, coaching, and development efforts, including cross-training activities.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and respectful work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures and participate in incident investigations when required.
  • Assist with workforce planning, task assignments, and shift communications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a machining, manufacturing, or industrial production environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory, team lead, or people leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production flow, and operational priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify production issues, analyze root causes, and support effective corrective actions.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations.
  • Experience handling employee relations concerns and conflict resolution in a professional manner.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and prioritize multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in CNC machining, metalworking, or precision manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or problem-solving methodologies.
  • Technical training, trade certification, or related education.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time position.
  • Must be willing to work 2nd or 3rd shift on a long-term basis.
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and alternate shifts as business needs require.
