Laboratory Operations Specialist III

Description of Job Duty:

The Lab Coordinator is responsible for organization and management of all School of Nursing laboratories including maintenance of supplies and equipment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Lab management/compliance: Responsible for organization and management of all School of Nursing laboratories, including maintenance of supplies and equipment. Maintains an inventory of equipment and supplies, produce a schedule for ordering of necessary expendable supplies, and develops and maintains a budget for the labs in coordination with the director. Responsible for OSHA compliance and compliance with TTU Campus Safety and Environmental Services policies and procedures. Orientation of faculty and students to lab resources. Ongoing collaboration with faculty in regard to schedules, space allocation, and lab set-ups. Simulation preparation and maintenance. Ensuring a safe lab environment. Supervision of lab specialists and graduate assistants assigned to simulation labs. Supervision and instruction of nursing students in the lab setting. Serve as point of contact for campus and community outreach requests for lab utilization, including campus tours and simulation demonstrations.

 

Physical Demands:

This position requires lifting and walking regularly. Able to lift at least 50lbs from floor to table. Able to 2 person lift 120lb items from knee level to counter level. Typically walking approximately 7000 steps a day. Ability to use step ladders to access items on higher shelves. Dexterity required to use computers and set up simulation equipment daily steps a day. Work Hours:

Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM but may have to work earlier in the AM and PM, as well as weekends prn.

Salary:

Commensurate with education and experience. Level P3, Grade 11.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution. Current Tennessee nursing license as a registered nurse. One year of experience as a registered nurse. Current knowledge and ability in nursing care, nursing procedures, and related technology. Proficiency in computer technology and software such as Microsoft Excel and Word. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Experience with simulation in clinical education or current experience with and use of health systems technology.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
 
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE), Master of Science in Nursing, acute care nursing experience.
