What We’re Looking For
exida is seeking a motivated recent graduate or early-career engineer who wants to build expertise in functional safety, industrial automation, alarm management, or operational technology cybersecurity.
This is an engineering-focused position supporting projects involving industrial equipment, control systems, manufacturing processes, and safety-critical operations. It is not a traditional information technology, help-desk, or corporate network-security role.
You will work alongside experienced exida engineers, contribute to client projects, learn specialized engineering tools and international standards, and gain exposure to industries such as:
- Oil and gas, refining, and petrochemicals;
- Chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing;
- Power generation, utilities, and renewable energy;
- Industrial manufacturing and automation;
- Automotive, machinery, robotics, and autonomous systems;;
- Mining, minerals, and other safety-critical industries; and
- Manufacturers of industrial control and safety equipment.
The position is designed to provide broad early-career experience and help you identify the technical area in which you are best positioned to develop into a subject-matter expert.

What You Will Do
Support Engineering and Client Projects
Provide technical and project assistance to exida engineers and account managers using exida software, commercial engineering tools, templates, technical documentation, and project data.
Depending on project needs, your work may involve industrial control systems, safety instrumented systems, equipment reliability, product assessments, cybersecurity documentation, alarm management, or engineering lifecycle activities.
Learn Functional Safety and Industrial Cybersecurity
Work closely with experienced engineers and managers to develop practical knowledge of:
- Functional safety and safety lifecycle engineering;
- Industrial automation and control systems;
- Industrial or operational technology cybersecurity;
- Alarm management;
- Product and process certification;
- Engineering reliability and risk assessment; and
- Relevant international standards and industry practices.

Develop Software and Technical-Tool Proficiency
Become proficient in exida’s specialized engineering software and tools used to support safety, reliability, and industrial cybersecurity assessments.
You may also assist with organizing technical information, reviewing project inputs, preparing calculations or reports, testing tools and templates, and supporting the consistent delivery of engineering services.
Improve Engineering and Business Processes
Assist with the documentation and improvement of internal operating processes using methods such as process mapping, workflow analysis, lean process engineering, standardization, and automation.
Participate in Training and Professional Development
Complete internal and external training programs designed to develop your engineering knowledge, understanding of industry standards, client-service skills, and ability to contribute independently to technical projects.
Ideal Candidates
You are curious, detail-oriented, and interested in solving real-world engineering problems. You enjoy learning how complex industrial systems operate and how engineering practices can reduce the risk of equipment failures, cybersecurity incidents, operational disruptions, and harm to people or the environment.
You should also be comfortable communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and working collaboratively with colleagues from different engineering disciplines and regions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, chemical, mechanical, computer, systems, industrial, controls, automation, or a related engineering discipline;
- Recent graduates and candidates with up to approximately three years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply;
- Strong technical aptitude, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to learn specialized engineering software, standards, and technical processes;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to organize technical information accurately and consistently;
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment; and
- A genuine interest in continuous learning and professional development.
Candidates with a computer science background may also be considered when their education or experience is relevant to embedded systems, industrial automation, control systems, engineering software, or industrial cybersecurity.
Helpful but Not Required
Prior professional experience in functional safety or industrial cybersecurity is not required. Exposure to any of the following through coursework, internships, laboratory work, senior projects, or personal study is helpful:
- Industrial automation, instrumentation, or process control;
- Programmable logic controllers, distributed control systems, or safety instrumented systems;
- Reliability, risk analysis, or process safety;
- Embedded systems or industrial software;
- Functional safety or industrial cybersecurity concepts;
- Standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511, IEC 62443, ISO 26262, or related standards;
- Software development, testing, data analysis, or technical documentation;
- Process mapping, workflow improvement, or lean engineering; and
- Microsoft Office 365 applications and tools.
