Job Title: Peer24 Lead

Location: Sean's House Sussex (1307 Savannah Rd, Lewes, DE) 

Job Type: Part-time, hourly compensation

Reports To: Tyler Coupe, Sussex House Manager & Molly Ontiveros, Director of Clinical Support

Job Overview

Peer24 Leads make everything that we do at Sean's House Sussex possible, and we're so excited that you are interested in furthering your commitment to helping others through their own mental health challenges to the next level with us by becoming one! In this position, you will become one of the many faces that represents Sean's House Sussex and the SL24: Unlocke the Light Foundation. This role is just as fulfilling as it is (at times) challenging, so please be sure to review the information on the details of this position carefully and answer all questions in this application honestly and thoughtfully
 

Responsibilities & Duties

Some of the responsibilities and duties required of a Peer24 Lead are...

  • Perform daily House maintenance tasks including (but not limited to) sweeping, cleaning counters, emptying trash cans, restocking snacks/drinks, etc
  • Provide peer support to guests 
  • Navigate crisis-level* sessions
  • Following up with crisis-level* guests no more than 24 hours after the end of their peer support session
  • Complete appropriate documentation for sessions
  • Facilitate Gather & Grow dinners at the House (involves speaking to the group in attendance, facilitating activities and mental health oriented conversations, and running programs as necessary)
  • Gathering information on resources that a guest may need or would benefit the community in response to community events
  • Conducting research on resources to further expand our portfolio of what we can offer to guests
  • Participate in activities that support and further the mission of the SL24: Unlocke the Light Foundation such as tabling, speaking engagements, and assisting with annual fundraising events
  • Exemplify the mission and values of the SL24: Unlocke the Light Foundation through the way you conduct yourself and interact with House guests and Peer24 Support Specialists
  • Answering phone calls and directing callers to appropriate outlets.
  • Representing the organization at various SL24 events through tabling and/or speaking.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

*training for what to do in crisis-level sessions will be provided before responsibilities begin

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Lived experiences with a mental health challenge and recovery  
  • Demonstrated willingness and commitment to supporting their peers and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health challenges
  • Ability to attend one of the three-day in-person trainings (located in Sussex County)
  • A State of Delaware criminal background check and provide proof of employment eligibility in the U.S
