Resource Conservation Technician
The Elk County Conservation District is looking for a motivated individual to join our team in a full-time position serving Elk County. This position will help protect and improve our natural resources by working on erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, permitting, and stream and wetland conservation projects. Starting salary range for this position is anticipated to be $35,000 to $40,000 based on experience. Seeking candidates that possess the following:
An associate’s degree (2-year degree) from an accredited university, college, or trade school, which includes one of the following major areas of study: Agricultural Business, Agricultural Education, Agricultural Science, Animal Science, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Forest Management, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Soil Science, or other area of study with a major emphasis on agriculture, forestry and/or natural resources OR possess a combination of applicable education, training, work experience, or volunteer experience that is equivalent to a 2-year degree or greater.
Experience in the following is desired, but not required:
- Erosion and sediment pollution control best management practices
- Stormwater management designs and implementation
- Wetland delineation and identification
- Stream classifications, hydrology, and watershed delineations
- Experience in construction processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, aerial photos, and topographic maps
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and other computer-related programs
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Public speaking and/or teaching
- Grant writing, project management, and technical writing skills
