Career & Professional Development (CPD) is seeking a creative, motivated, and detail-oriented student to serve as our Digital Marketing Intern. This position offers hands-on experience in digital marketing, social media management, content creation, branding, event promotion, storytelling, photography, videography, and marketing analytics.

The Digital Marketing Intern will help build awareness of Career & Professional Development's services, events, and resources while showcasing student success stories and employer partnerships. This role is ideal for students interested in marketing, communications, public relations, digital media, journalism, graphic design, business, or related fields.

The position averages 10 hours per week during the academic year and requires a commitment of at least two semesters.

Professional Development Opportunity

The selected intern will have the opportunity to participate in UW Oshkosh's Digital Marketing Clinic meetings, collaborating with faculty and fellow student marketers to receive feedback, discuss projects, explore industry trends, and further develop their digital marketing skills. This experience provides valuable professional networking opportunities and enhances the student's marketing portfolio.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Business, English, or related major (all majors considered)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using social media platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, CapCut, or similar content creation tools
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Interest in digital marketing, branding, content creation, and social media strategy
  • Comfortable interacting with students, employers, faculty, staff, and community partners
  • Experience with photography, videography, or video editing is a plus
  • Knowledge of Handshake is preferred but not required
  • Must have at least one academic year remaining before graduation
  • Ability to commit to at least two semesters in the position

Responsibilities

Digital Marketing & Content Creation (40%)

  • Create and schedule content for Career & Professional Development social media platforms
  • Develop engaging graphics, photos, videos, stories, and promotional content
  • Assist in marketing CPD programs, services, workshops, career fairs, and employer events
  • Maintain a content calendar and coordinate promotional timelines
  • Ensure content aligns with UW Oshkosh brand standards and messaging

Student Storytelling & Brand Awareness (25%)

  • Create content highlighting student success stories, internships, employment outcomes, and employer partnerships
  • Conduct interviews and gather student testimonials
  • Identify opportunities to increase awareness and engagement among UW Oshkosh students
  • Serve as a student voice in helping CPD communicate effectively with its audiences

Event Marketing & Promotion (20%)

  • Assist with promotion of career fairs, networking events, workshops, and campus outreach efforts
  • Capture photos and video content at events
  • Staff information tables and outreach activities as needed
  • Support professional headshot events and other student engagement initiatives

Analytics & Special Projects (15%)

  • Monitor social media engagement and basic performance metrics
  • Assist with reporting on marketing efforts and campaign effectiveness
  • Contribute ideas for marketing campaigns and student engagement initiatives
  • Assist staff with special projects and presentations
  • Collaborate with other student employees and professional staff on marketing initiatives
